Hollis Garden
It’s one of the greatest spots to spend a day in Lakeland — it’s charming and only a short walk from the city’s vibrant downtown area (i.e. ultimate dining and shopping). Tour this botanical display garden built in a neo-classical architectural environment equipped with patterned flower beds, public art, and fountains to relax, unwind, and be inspired by nature. This botanical display garden, built in a neo-classical architectural context along the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror, is home to more than 10,000 blooms and beautiful shrubs, shade trees, and a Grand Staircase. Seasonal adjustments are made to the hours. Flowers, stunning fountains, and a picturesque view of Lake Mirror can be found in this well-kept oasis. As you go through the rose garden, butterfly trail, and down a large neoclassical staircase, music plays. You’ll be glad you remembered to bring your camera while you’re staring out over the beautiful Lake Mirror. Hollis Garden is made up of a number of different themed gardens. It all begins with a water lily and fern grotto, as well as a historic tree arboretum. The gardens get increasingly magnificent as you approach Lake Mirror. The garden’s walks are paved, making it easily accessible and enjoyable. The lovely flowers and one-of-a-kind sculptures make this a favorite picture location. You enter the natural area of the garden after exploring the grotto. As you go through this beautiful region, keep an eye out for the berry plants. You’ll be surrounded by historic trees once you’ve left the native portion. The Elvis Presley Weeping Willow is one of these trees, and it was cultivated from cuttings from the tree in his Graceland front yard. There are other trees dedicated to George Washington and Susan B. Anthony. The agricultural area of the gardens is in the center. They produce vegetables and herbs in this region to respect the area’s farming and agricultural origins. A fruit orchard with a variety of fruits, including star fruit and Florida peaches, is also located in this part. The sculpture garden in Hollis Garden is also open to the public. Sculptures range in style from classical to contemporary to colorful. There are also various fountains that contribute to the quiet, serene atmosphere. You’ll be able to see the numerous swans, ducks, and geese that call Lake Mirror home as you walk around. Classical music is played throughout the park, adding a lovely, relaxing atmosphere to your stay. A stroll around the grounds may whet your appetite. You have a variety of possibilities due to its proximity to downtown. The Garden Bistro and the Texas Cattle Company are two convenient alternatives. Both restaurants are available for lunch and supper and are located right adjacent to the garden. You may also enjoy a picnic in the park while taking in the scenery. After exploring the garden, little children may want something more tailored to their needs. Barnett Family Park is also located in Hollis Garden. A splash pad water area, a playground, including the Sunflower Preschool Playground built for little children, and a labyrinth are all included in the park.
